TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition

Atlanta, GA -

On a calm April night in 1912, the world’s largest ship, the Titanic, sank after colliding with an iceberg on her maiden voyage. On board were 2,228 passengers including; titans of commerce and industry, artists and movie stars, senior members of governments, immigrants dreaming of a new life, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters. More than 1,500 died. No one believed it could happen.

THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS SHIP TO DOCK IN ATLANTA

Now science and technology is allowing us to see the Titanic through the internationally acclaimed tribute of ‘Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition’. Viewed by more than 17 million people worldwide and hailed as a must see, the Exhibition will make its long awaited Atlanta debut in November at the Atlanta Civic Center.

TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition
2008 Dates TBA
Where: The Atlanta Civic Center 395 Piedmont Avenue Atlanta, GA 30308

The Exhibition has been designed with a focus on the legendary RMS Titanic’s compelling human stories as best told through more than 300 authentic artifacts and extensive room re-creations. A suitcase, a gentleman’s top hat, china etched with the logo of the elite White Star Line, even a three ton section of the Ship’s hull-- these and many other objects offer haunting, emotional connections to lives abruptly ended or forever altered.

Visitors are quickly drawn back in time to 1912, as each receives a replica boarding pass of an actual passenger upon entrance. The visitors are then immersed in the Exhibition as they take a chronological journey through the Titanic; from the ship’s construction to life on board, the ill-fated sinking, and amazing artifact rescue efforts. They will marvel at authentically re-created first and third class cabins, view the Ship’s cargo hold, stand on the Captain’s bridge, press their palms against an iceberg, and learn of the passengers countless stories of heroism and humanity.

One of the many galleries will be dedicated to Georgia connections where visitors discover the State’s reaction and ties to the event. In the “Memorial Gallery” guests will take their boarding pass to the memorial wall and learn if their passenger and traveling companions survived or perished.

The Exhibition is produced by Atlanta based, RMS Titanic, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of Premier Exhibitions, Inc. who recently brought the highly successful BODIES…The Exhibition to the Atlanta Civic Center. RMS Titanic, Inc is the only company permitted by law to recover objects from the wreck of the Titanic. The Company was granted Salvor-in-possession rights to the wreck of Titanic by a United States federal court in 1994 and has conducted seven research and recovery expeditions to the Titanic where it recovered approximately 5,500 artifacts.
