Music Midtown
Atlanta, GA -A large part of Atlanta's rich Southern heritage is an appreciation of music, and its ability to lift our spirts and guide our thoughts. An excellent expression of this is the 8th Annual Music Midtown Festival, to be held May 4th through 6th, 2001.

The Festival will be in Midtown,of course, in the area bordered by Ralph McGill Blvd., Pine Street, Piedmont Ave. and Bedford Place. This includes both Renaissance and Bedford Pines Parks, with their cooling shade trees. Music Midtown is an eclectic, exciting mixture of musical styles and genres... Delta Blues to guitar rock, Folk to Funk, accoustic purists to electronic experimentalists. Spread across several stages and throughout the weekend, this is a musical Odyssey that will captivate and cultivate.
Music Midtown will feature some of the biggest names in contemporary music including: Bob Dylan, En Vogue, Fuel, Kool & the Gang, Little Feat, Lucinda Williams, Offspring, Original P, Our Lady Peace, Run DMC, Steve Earle, The Smithereens, and Wallflowers. For a full lineup, click here.
Like most Atlanta events, Music Midtown is organized to be family-friendly. Sure there will be access to plenty of alcoholic beverages, but there's also a Kid's Town. Air-conditioned and alcohol-free, Kid's Town is going to be an oasis of fun for the little ones.
Once again there will be hands-on learning exhibits from SciTrek, Altanta's award-winning Science learning center. Radio Disney will be leading the excitement from the main stage in Kid's Town... Barnes & Noble's Storytime will feature Winnie the Pooh, Arthur, Cat in the Hat, and The Wild Thing.
More kids activities include- Harry Potter-themed activities like Magic Shows, giveaways, and arts & crafts. Petur Redbird and his company of dancers will perform Native American Pow-Wow dances, that both inform and entertain. And Rick Hubbard's All-Kid Kazoo Band will bring kids off the floors and onto the stage!
This wouldn't be a truly Southern Festival if there weren't food, and plenty of it. Stop by the Food Court between sets and feast on some of the City's finest foods. Click here for a full list of vendors.
This being Midtown, parking is limited. However, MARTA stops at the Civic Center and North Avenue stations, both within easy walking distance of the Festival. There will also be a taxi stand at Piedmont and Currier Avenues.
Music Midtown... it's a weekend's entertainment
for the whole family!
