Atlanta's New Year's Eve 2001
Atlanta, GA -For some strange reason, in New York City locals and tourists alike wait for hours in the numbing cold to watch to a giant frozen ball fall to the ground. Oddly enough, Atlanta has a similar custom, although one a little more symbolic of place.

The Peach Drop at Underground Atlanta is Atlanta's largest New Year's Eve event. Thousands upon thousands gather for music and partying... this year's Peach Drop Celebration will feature live entertainment and interactive fun for the family, beginning at noon.
At nightfall, musical performances sponsored by Z93, Atlanta's Classic Rock station, will begin in Fountains Plaza. Another concert and dance party with live bands will take place in Kenny's Alley.
The famous "Peach Drop" from the Underground Atlanta Light Tower takes place at midnight, and it's truly a sight to behold!
If you're not in the mood to brave the slight chill of the night air, take in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's New Year's Eve show. The theme for this year is "Bravo Broadway." Jere Flint will conduct the ASO and special guests, vocalists Jan Horvath, Doug LaBrecque and Michael McGuire, will sing the praises of the Great White Way's greatest composers. The concert will feature a lineup of Broadway's leading hit-makers including Cole Porter, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
They're doing it again, at High Ball 2000.
Young Careers, of the High Museum of Art, will host their seventh annual
black tie fundraiser for the Museum. Always one of the city's most popular
New Year's Eve events, tickets include an open bar, elaborate hors d'ouevres
buffet, dancing to music by Flavor and their DJ, and a champagne toast
at midnight. Palm and tarot card readers will be available for a nominal
fee to give guests a glimpse into the 21st century. Have fun! Tickets
are $130, and the Ball's in the Biltmore Ballrooms.
