This is the BEST in P.C.B. We ate there twice during our stay. Food was #1 and our bill was forty dollars cheaper than Capt. Andersons and you will not find better service in the panhandle.

Saltwater is one of my top picks for anyone wanting a nice dinner out in Panama City. Many restaurants have a great atmosphere and bad food or vice versa. At Saltwater you will find mouth-watering food, an elegant ambiance and fantastic entertainment. Some of my favorites on the menu are Grouper Macadamia, Black and White Tuna and the Prime Rib. I have also had the Mahi Mahi from the early bird menu and for just under $15 this is one of the best deals on the beach. If you are a sweet potato lover order one to accompany your meal it’s so good its like having dessert for dinner. Speaking of dessert you can’t go wrong with the chocolate lava cake topped with homemade vanilla ice cream. Be sure to visit Tuesday through Saturday during the hours of the piano bar for added entertainment. Just be sure to ask to be seated in the Mermaid Room so that you may enjoy the show while you dine. But you may find it hard to look up from your plate- the food is that amazing. The daily happy hour here is also worth the trip- $4 Martinis, half off well drinks, $1 off house wine and domestic draft beer.

Saltwater Grill never dissapoints! My boyfriend and I just had an enjoyable evening and as always we were treated special. Mike Rorah will play anything you want to hear. Our filets were perfect and the wine was just how the waiter described. We love this place and look forward to returning.

Everyone has an off night, I suppose, but we just had a horrible experience at the Salt Water Grill. One of our party has severe food allergies and even though we requested that her salad be served with no cucumbers, it was delivered to the table with diced cucumbers hidden under the salad greens. Then, somehow, our dinner order was "misplaced" and our entre's were not prepared. After inquiry, 3 of the 4 meals we ordered were served 2 hours after ordering....the 4th was eventually served 15 minutes after the first 3. When the late entre' was served, the person delivering it apologized and asked that we "give him a chance to make the bad experience up to us". A complimentary drink, desert, etc. would have been a nice gesture, but when the check was presented no attempt was made to recognize our terrible dining experience. Not recognizing a special request like deleting cucumbers from a salad could have serious consequences. Losing a dinner order in an upscale restaurant like the Salt Water Grill is unforgivable. At best, serving dinners to members of the same dinner party at different times creates a clumsy situation for diners and while it may be acceptable at Mcdonald's it certainly is not at an upscale restaurant. We are retired semi-locals and we eat out nearly every night when we are in town. The Salt Water Grill management and wait staff's "could care less" attitude is fine with me if that is the way they think they should treat their customers............they just won't have the chance to abuse us again. I much prefer to patronize local restaurants who proprietors appreciate our business.

Once we arrived at the Saltwater Grill i knew that I liked it. It turned out that the atmosphere was great, elegant looking room, great fish tank and not to mention that piano player, it was nice and relaxing and the service was great. The food was wonderful too. We had the fried crab-claws for an appetizer and I suggest any one to order them, they had a great taste. Although, we did get a pretty good show while we were there(this drunk couple probably in their late 40's were kissing and hugging showing lots of public displays of affection and taking pictures of each other, ordered an expensive bottle of champagne and snuck-out and left without paying for their meal, what a show!)That's what I remember most about our visit to SWG but it is a fabulous place to visit. I know I can't wait to go back!

Saltwater Grill pros and cons, 2007-06-17

pros: The atmosphere of this place is wonderful! Very cozy and dark with a beautiful and very large saltwater fish tank. Candles at the tables, very comfortable. cons: I ordered shrimp alfredo, and it came in a big stuck together clump in the middle of my plate. It tasted like it looked, pasty and leftover. I think my sons liked their food, to be honest, I don't remember, but all in all, because of that wonderful atmosphere, I might have tried it again, and ordered more wisely.

We visited Salt Water Grill on a Saturday Night. The reviews on tripadvisor.com and here suggested it was a fine restaurant comparable to Boar's Head Tavern (where we had dined the previous evening). Believe me, the food was nothing like BHT. My mahi-mahi was dry and the fried shrimp only so-so. My son's steak was tough and flavorless. The key lime pie was the only item of distinction. Even the aquarium was a joke (few fish in it). And we were seated next to a loud, drunken party (not SWG's fault, I guess).

If you want to relax this is the place to go. The aquarium is awesome, the piano player knows what he's doing. The lobster and crab is to die for and you get hot lemon butter under a candle to go with it. The mashed potatoes were flawless. It is expensive but not quite as much as you might think. Definitly worth it.

I just read the review from Victoria and i have felt the same way for over 3 years now. I live and work in Atlanta, but I have a condo in panama city beach and look forward to "experiencing" the Saltwater Grill the minute I arrive at the beach. I call in and ask for Robert to be my waiter, and he brings me my favorite wine before i even read the menu! Then i ask Mike to sing a song from the "Phantom of the Opera". I feel like i am dining at the Ritz in Manhattan. When I am ready to leave, I get the check and am very glad to be in Panama City Beach! Bravo

From the moment we walked in the door we knew we were in a special place. A floor to ceiling tropical aquarium is the centerpiece of the bar/grill. Then we heard the music. A man from California named Michael Rorah is performing on a black baby grand piano. He is absolutely an undiscovered STAR! We asked to be seated near him as he is actually not coming through the speakers with enough volume to be heard properly. Our lobsters were grilled to perfection. We have been back more than 20 times, just to hear the pianist. (he is easy on the eyes too!)

A little lesser known than some of the bigger beach restaurants, Saltwater delivers big! Awesome seafood, great steaks, excellent service. Bar looks like a nice happy hour hangout. There's a HUGE saltwater aquarium that will entyertain the kids for at least a few minutes... and is cool to watch while dining. If other places have a 2 hour wait, try Saltwater... it'll be less crowded, but just as good... maybe even better.
