Every trip I make to Panama City Beach involves at least one stop to Sonny's. Their all-you-can-eat BBQ and garlic toast are worth the trip, but don't expect anything fancy. The salad bar is kind of wimpy, and the service can be slow if it's busy, but the pork and beef BBQ is pure Southern Comfort food (from a chain, no less).

This is one of those places I've always passed by, not because it wasn't good, but because it was another in a long line of southern BBQ chains. Well two weeks ago I made a point of stopping and eating lunch and boy am I glad I did. The lunch menu was extensive, and as I was famished I ordered the Pork 3 Ways (pulled, sliced, and ribs). It was so tender and flavorful that it didn't even need the sauce. This was quite a surprise as my experience with BBQ houses is the smaller the better. I will be coming back to Sonny's again; I hope you try it too!

Good BBQ and Great Salad Bar!, 2006-01-19

Sonny's BBQ is pretty good. I've had better, but I'm probably more picky than the average person about my BBQ. They've got good combos and the Big Deal is a quick, cheap, tasty lunch. Salad Bar is way above average. I'd give these guys 7 stars relative to BBQ joints. Look forward to eating here some more.
