Don't be mistaken, this is no casual trip from Panama City Beach proper, but the food and Gulf view make it a worthy trip, especially at lunch. The She-Crab soup is excellent, and the oysters and clams are also delicious. The closer you get to Apilachicola, the bigger the oysters seem to get.

Whenever family visits the Panama City area and wants seafood, this is where we take them. The restaurant is right on the beach in Mexico Beach and has seating facing the excellent view of the gulf. Or you can sit inside in comfort. Just about any local seafood (if its in season) can be found here, fresh daily and prepared with loving care. Normally I choose the grouper basket (excellent choice for the fish lover). But last week I went for the fresh bay scallop basket. The scallops were abundantly sweet and tender and the portion was enormous. I could not finish the side order once I had savored each and every scallop on the plate. If you want to satisfy your craving for gulf seafood go no further than Toucans; if traveling isn't on your list look at my review of the Captain's Table in Panama City.

My wife and I ride our motorcycles on the weekend. One of our better routes is to leave Panama City and head to Mexico Beach. We usually ride on to Port St. Joe and then return to Toucans. We always have a couple of beers and either some fried shrimp or oysters. A nice place to relax before heading back home. The view of the Gulf is wonderful and there are always lots of interesting scenary to enjoy :) Check it out.

This is the only real restaurant in Mexico Beach. The food is always delicious and the gulf views are breathtaking. It is a fun place for kids and great for the adults on the upper deck. Better than any of the restaurants at Panama City Beach!
