I might have, maybe maybe, thought "why eat Italian food in New Orleans" but one bite of the food at Bacco's and you know darn well where you are, and that you couldn't be anywhere else. Bacco's may begin with Italian ingredients and compositions, but it wrings it through New Orleans, and the result is the best of both. Take, for example, their lovely, delicious truffled egg served on bruschetta with gorgonzola and baby arugula. Or the calamari with Creole seasoning and a marinara dip....superb. Bacco's makes it seem like Italian and Creole are the most natural couple in the world. I love sitting at the bar here. It's very social, very interesting mix of people (being at the W Hotel).

YUMMY! Try the new crawfish panni, it is super! Fresh crawfish, lots of cheese, kind of a fresher crawfish pie... I loved it, top with the "ice cream sandwich" made with their own homemade strawberry ice cream, SUPER!

I have got to say this was definitely one of the finest meals I had during my last stay. The wine was amazing, the food was fantastic (the staff gave me some great advice on what my selective and picky diet could handle.) The bar was packed but that didn't keep the bartender from kicking ass and taking drinks. P.S. The Bacco shrimp was delicious and for desert you can't go wrong with the Berries & Cream

Italian in the Aftermath, 2005-12-02

I loved Bacco before Katrina. Our place in the Quarter is just a half block from the restaurant, so we eat there all the time. I never took time to write a 'review' before Katrina... I guess we took this beautiful place for granted. Well, I'll never make that mistake again. It was so wonderful to walk back into the restaurant... such a golden, glowing spirit about the place and the aroma of their wood grill was like a whiff of heaven! Thankfully, they had no damage from Katrina, so they reopened quickly... same crisp white table cloths and perfect wines. Incredibly, even the impeccable service survived; several of their servers rode out the storm. In typical Ralph Brennan fashion, Bacco opened its arms to everyone, and has been truly wonderful to rub elbows with people from all walks of life... to enjoy the 'comfort' foods of Italy, New Orleans style!
