Consistently rated among the Top Five restaurants in the city, Pelican Club is a beautiful, paneled escape from the "usual" in New Orleans. Chef/Owner Richard Hughes offers a tantalizing and flavorful menu of creole, seafood, oriental and classic creations. Hint: More locals than tourists always tells you something! And, this is a local favorite!

Really fine My wife and I are glad we both chose the 4 course menu. We would not have wanted to miss any of these eight dishes. In retrospect it seems like adding shrimp to crab cakes is obviously a good idea. But after eating the Pelican Club cakes I now think it is a necessity. I am usually hesitant to order a multiple seafood entre because one mediocre ingredient can taint the whole dish. Not here. The shrimp, fish, clams, scallops and mussels in the Louisiana cioppino tasted like the tomato basil sauce was their natural habitat. You risk instant addiction if you try the bourbon pecan pie. I'm trembling now just writing about it.

Just strolling through the French Quarter you would expect to find beautiful gardens and courtyards beind some very interesting fences and peep holes, but there is an alley, Exchange Alley (Place) to be exact that boasts of having some of the the greatest food in the country. The atmosphere is clean, and comfortably rich with a warm, welcoming feel. The food is expensive looking but affordable, and the lobster is good enough to make you say bad things to your mother. Yes, it's that good, but be careful what you say to your mother, you might get slapped. Take a cab, walk, or stroll and drop by Exchange Alley and walk into The Pelican club for dinner. You won't be disappoited.
