Got wine?, 2007-07-18

I discovered this place through the wine store next door. It's not a wine bar, but you can taste a few of the bottles to consider before buying. There isn't a huge selection, but everything is interesting, well chosen, worthwhile (no boring labels you see everywhere) and a few that are actually great finds. Bistro Bijoux is the restaurant equivalent: food that dances well with wine! There aren't lots of offerings here either–––not a long menu with "something for everyone" which usually means boring, but each dish is good and well-prepared. Baytowne is like a walking street in Europe, and Bistro Bijoux is very European feeling, too. Enjoy!

Season Greetings and Happy New Year, Everyone! I'm new to TripSmarter and happened to notice there hasn't been a review written for "The Bistro Bijoux", located in the Village at Baytowne. It's not like the Bistro needs a review written by me to improve their business. But I thought "you" might appreciate knowing about this wonderful restaurant in The Village. We've been fortunate to dine at the Bistro no less than 5 or 6 times. And we keep going back! The Bistro is one restaurant we've found that consistently offers a wonderful atmosphere, excellent food and fabulous service. If you enjoy wine, you'll find that wine at the Bistro is very reasonably priced for this area. Be sure to order a bottle for your table. You'll want to sit back, relax and enjoy your evening at the Bistro! We're probably making a mistake but we always skip the appetizer menu because we don't want to spoil our appetite before our entre's arrive. But I do enjoy a cold, crisp salad or a nice bowl of soup -- all of which are always very wonderful. As for your entre .. if you're a beef eater, I wholeheartedly recommend ordering the Angus and lobster tail (it's the last item on the menu). It's cooked perfectly every time! Seafood lovers .. you can't miss with the grouper or tuna. And please -- save room for dessert. You can't miss with the Creme Brulee with fresh blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and whipped cream! I don't recommend making reservations although most people would. We prefer to show up whenever it's convenient, ask the hostess to put us on her list for dinner and go take a seat in the small but romantic bar that's neatly tucked away to the left as you walk in the door. There's no better way to wait for your table! I hope you've enjoyed reading my review. But mostly, I've enjoyed sharing with you, a restaurant that we've enjoyed time and time again! Maybe you can share with me, one of your wonderful dining experiences in the Destin area! May you have a very wonderful and prosperous Happy New Year! Best regards, John heinisch@cisco.com
