Sometimes you just get lucky and find a little restaurant that good be just ordinary and instead it's exactly what you want. This is what happened when I found Gravel Road, and each time I go back I remember why I loved it in the first place. Ok, it's in a funny little shopping "village" and the interior doesn't say much, but forget all that: two young chefs working hard in a small kitchen with a very large wood oven turn out some excellent, seasonal, locally-inspired and fresh delicious food. Really, I cannot go too overboard here. It's one of the best restaurants in the area and I can't believe it's not more famous. The menu changes all the time, but the daily fish special is bound to be superb and different from what you'll see around. The salads are their own special destination (roasted beets in particular), the vegetables in general are always as fresh as it gets (and great cuisine ALWAYS starts with the freshest, most glorious produce) and the desserts. Start to finish, you can't miss here, so turn down that Gravel Road and reap the benefits of getting off the highway.
