This place makes me smile. I love it! Trader Vic's is a sampling of the kind of travel most people never get to do: far off into the Pacific, to islands that are days apart to get to, where people hand carve canoes and weave baskets as fish traps (look up to the ceiling for actual examples, I'm not making this up! Ok, so Trader Vic's is a little campy, it makes good on its islandy image, with a REAL clay oven from 12th century China that burns REAL nut woods for flavor, and real woks over fire in the kitchen for the stir frys and most importantly: a REAL lotta alcohol in those drinks, yowsa! They go all out for their parties here: hula dancers, fire eaters, limbo like crazy. I love the sampler appetizer and the stir frys, but save room for the coffee creme brulee, ok?
