Square one when it comes to Southern fare, Mary Mac's tea room will educate and enlighten those not from the South, and bring tears to the eyes of those who are. Not only will you taste the fried green tomatoes, catfish, chicken and dumplings, peach cobbler and sweet tea of your wildest dreams, you will be treated to the sweetest most down to earth, warmest hospitality. What other restaurant in the WORLD has a "Goodwill Ambassador" (yes, that's her title) who walks around rubbing necks and asking "how ya'll doin' today?" at every single table? The breads and desserts are baked daily, the vegetables are cleaned by hand and even the Dalai Lama has eaten here! Fancy restaurants are one thing, but this is the heart and soul of Atlanta-in-the-South.
