Had a perfect evening last visit to Atlanta: show at The Fox theater (Wicked), followed by trip to The Varsity. This is the kind of place you want to blend into and simply watch happen. It's unbelievable "Whaddyu Got?" being hollered out, people ordering in a secret Varsity language you only speak if you've eaten here forever, and delivery so fast, it's like wizards are making the food in poofs of smoke. LOVE the frosted orange (it's a drink, like a creamsicle). This is an Atlanta monument. Not going is like not seeing the Statue of Liberty or Times Square in NYC. Abandon all ye diets and try The Varsity drive in/ walk up restaurant.

For those of you that don't know Varsity lingo that's "2 Plain Hot Dogs To Go!" The Varsity is the world's largest drive-in and a must do in Atlanta. If you have never been you have to get the chili dogs and frosted orange drink. These are staples and have been around since the beginning. Personally I like to mix it up a little with a Chili Dog, Hamburger with pimento cheese, and a Large Altanta favorite "Coca-Cola". Don't be afraid when you get to the counter and they yell "Whattaya Have"...that's just Varsity talk for "Can I take your order!"

What's left to say about the Varsity? It's good. It's greasy. It's crowded. It's a classic. And it's a must-do anytime we visit Atlanta. Great hangover cure! Have fun finding a parking spot, though!
