I don't fish. Looks like a good spot if you do, and I understand for a nominal fee you can go fish to your hearts content (with fishing admission exempting you from a license). Having said that ... This is just a great place to go out over the gulf and watch the people, surf, birds, and everything that makes the beach THE BEACH! Last time I was there, admission for a 24 hour period for one person was $1.00. Well worth it. Plus, the Pier is part of a complex that includes some great restaurant, bars, and clubs. Get something to eat, walk out to the pier for sunset, then enjoy one of the clubs and you and a perfect one-stop evening.
