Brunch is the Best Deal, 2005-01-24

Downstairs for lunch -- sandwich prices are okay, dessert is overpriced for what you get. The wait staff is not very attentive, the tables usually seem a little sticky and dirty, and the restrooms are just dingy -- stuff like broken latches on the doors. Upstairs - first experience was awful, since I made non-smoking reservations and got seated in smoking. Now, state law requires the whole place be non-smoking and it's not so bad, atmosphere-wise. I wasn't impressed with the menu choices or with the meal when it was served, not for the prices they charge. The best deal is Sunday champagne brunch. Prices are fair, the white tablecloth atmosphere is nice, and you can't beat the beach view from upstairs. These impressions are pre-Hurricane Ivan. The complex is closed as I write this, and I understand major renovations are planned.
