At the east end of the city, St. Andrews State Park is of special interest to locals and area visitors alike. The 1,260-acre park is one of the most popular outdoor recreation spots in Florida. It has thick forests, sand dunes covered with sea oats, fresh and saltwater marshes, a lagoon swimming area, fishing jetties, hiking trails, 1.5 miles of beach and two campgrounds. From here, you can also take a ferry trip to Shell Island, a pristine barrier island just across from the mainland. This 700-acre island is a peaceful spot for sunning or collecting shells.

I'm a runner and I always put a $1 in my pocket so I can pay to enter and run a few miles in this park. It's so peaceful and beautiful. If you go early enough in the morning, you're likely to see a deer. This is one of the most cherished places in Panama City Beach.

You want to have a gorgeous and fun day on PCB? Head to St. Andrews State Park -- it is an untouched but maintained area on our beaches -- one of the last places you can go to truly enjoy the Gulf Coast. And the sunsets -- well, go see for yourself! And leave only your footprints please!

We love this place! Its is one of the most beautiful places on earth. It's cheap to get in ($5 per car) and it's a perfect place for the kids. If you have little ones, take them to the "kiddie pool" - a shallow protected pool of water, but very big. You won't be as nervous having them swim there as the Gulf side of the beach. The amenities could stand to be updated and cleaner... but we just try and avoid them. Camping is fun and we're planning on camping in the fall sometime.

One word can describe this place. AMAZING. I remember walking down the boardwalk to get to the beach from St. Andrews Park and being mesmerized at the beautiful view of the Gulf. Make sure you bring your sun glasses, because it is very bright here with no shade and the wonderful white sand. Great place to bring the kids and it is very cheap and affordable to get in. This will be one of the first places I visit when I go back to PCB this summer.
