Usually when you think of seafood, Mexican restaurants don't pop into your mind. However Kent Tomita at Chico's has the freshest seafood along with great seafood specials that are exciting and unusual. Last week my wife and I had the grilled tuna with cilantro garlic sauce and the achiote grouper grilled in a banana leaf.

This is an all-time favorite spot for locals, namely because the quality and the service are consistently wonderful. You can relax and have a fairly inexpensive, always delicious meal inside or out at Chico's. The authentic Mexican food is so good that I have never had room for dessert afterwards. Start of with some homemade chips and salsa-- the best I've ever had-- and then onto a mouthwatering entree. Serving everything from Mexican soups and salads to BIG burritos, tacos, fajitas, enchiladas, and more the choices may overwhelm you, but everything is tasty. And you must try one of their Margaritas made with a wine-based tequila...Wow!

I eat at Chico's all the time... the amazing part, I'm not even a big Mexican food fan... but, you can't beat the backporch at Chico's. And, the staff makes you feel really, really, at home. It's a fun place to hang out. Oh, did I mention the margaritas? I can't seem to spend enough time at Chico's :)

Chico's is a warm friendly place with excellent food. They treat you special if it's your first visit but when you return the 2nd time you're considered a regular.

OK... I know I have a tendency to use superlatives, but, in this case, Chico's has earned all of them. Kent Tomita (co-owner and chef) is the MASTER of delicious and spicy soups, and he knows exactly how to make the most of the Keys' fresh seafood - with a south of the border twist. Try the Fish Adobado or the Spicy Yellowtail. And, in season, Stone Crab Enchiladas! YUM!
