We had the distinct and incredibly enjoyable pleasure of dining at Opera for the first time tonight. What an over-the-top experience. From the lovely setting to the impeccable service, we were certain the food was going to be just as exceptional. No doubt, we were not disappointed. Every course was sheer perfection! We can't wait to return and we know we will be making it a regular stop every trip to Key West. From the Tuna Tar-Tar that was a crowd pleaser with our table, to the almost fork tender filet mignon topped with truffle butter. We can't leave out the cooked to perfection scallops either. Everyone in our party had something different and all were voicing their pleasure with each bite in each dish. Then there was the array of delicious, delectable desserts that made every person at the table exclaim oh me! What a little gem of a place that could stand up to any of the big city restaurants. Just excellent! This one is a MUST for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience.

I recently visited opera on my honeymoon. WOW ! I was greeted imediatly by he owner Peter, who was friendly, gregarious and seemed genuinely happy about our recent marriage. The room was contemporary, chique, warm and comfortable. Our server, Nuno, was incredibly helpful in exploring their botique wine list, which was global, but not intimidating. We found it difficult to choose from the menu, as each item seemed better then the last. Nuno guided us to the Diver scallops, and Linguini " Hell town ". Let me tell you, Chef Patrick, Peter's son, is brilliant. The flavors were fresh, unique, bold and exciting. Our whole night seemed magic, and any other dinner in Key west paled in comparison. Opera is Wonderful!

I was tipped off about this restaurant from a chef at the Orlando Culinary Academy. Had dinner on a Monday night the day before I got married. We made reservations at 7pm for 4. When we got to the restaurant we had the only reservation and table they had that evening. That entire evening was one of the best dinning experiences my party has ever had. Do not miss this diamond of a restaurant hidden down the alley.

Mar, 2007: A better dining experienced cannot be found in the Keys. Beginning with the first step taken into the beautiful intimate setting, you realize that great thought was put into its decor. Beautiful paintings appear on each wall; Curtains along the length of one wall of windows allow just the right amount of light inside; The richness of the dark wood beams in the ceiling; Nice carpeting throughout; Tablecloths, which my parents say a good restaurant should never be without. All of this set a great tone for an even greater experience yet to come. The host was terrific - friendly and sincerely appreciative. The servers were the best I've seen...friendly, courteous, professional and knowledgable, always there whenever something was needed, yet almost unnoticed and not standing over you. The food's presentation and taste matched or set the highest standard we have experienced anywhere in the Keys. It was followed by THE BEST Tiramisu I've had in years. It's an absolute MUST. Speaking with others before we left, we heard them almost mirroring our thoughts and comments, all being equally happy with their "dining experience" at Opera. Bottom line: You owe it to yourself to try this great place just once. I can assure you that you'll be very glad you did. Once you try it, I truly believe you'll definitely go back.

I don't know why it took me so long to finally make my way to Opera. It's certainly not hard to find... or out of the way. And, I was always intrigued when I walked past the tiny little cafe, tucked away on a little alley off Duval. Well, thank goodness my good friend Nancy Jones finally kicked me in the door! What a GREAT restaurant. The owners oversee everything. Andrea Benatti is the Chef Owner, and he is a REAL Italian with a true love of his native cuisine. Now, we can't stop going! We went four times the first week... five times the next. Never disappointed, always THRILLED. Do it!
