Awesome place to people watch. Can't stress that enough. Laid back definitely very Key West. You have an unbelievable view of the Atlantic Ocean and a great meal. As many locals as there are tourists. The same guy who owns Blue Heaven also owns this so they know how to give you a great experience. Try the yellow tail with the mango chutney and finish it off with the Key Lime Pie. It's big enough for two to share.

I have always loved Salute' We live here in Key West, and we eat there three or four times a week (really). A group of us (including a rather famous chef) ate dinner there Friday night; it was delicious and magical... with twinkling lights and moonlight on the water. So, we went back for lunch the next day... and the next! Ha! I'm not kidding. We think we'll go back today, too - and, I have friends driving down from Miami tomorrow who have already called ahead to see if we will take them there again - they remember it from their last trip. The food is outstanding, the wine list (thanks to new owners, Richard and Sue Ann of Blue Heaven fame) is filled with favorites - the service is warm and personal and friendly. I guess it's hard to believe someone who rants and raves like this, but if you're reading this, you should believe me. Go there!

My husband and I celebrated our renewal of vows and decided to go to Salute to celebrate, along with 12 other family members and friends. We were seated, and the ONLY table in the entire restaurant... The server took 15 minutes to make it to our table to take our order.. It was another 35-40 minutes before we received our dinners..T HEN, when we got the bill, they had added 20% gratuity! It was not posted ANYWHERE in the restaurant, OR on the menu that they did this automatically.. When we asked them to show us where this is their policy, they could not produce anything in writing or otherwise! The server only came to our table three times - once to take our order, once to bring it out and once to bring us the check.. The worst service I have ever experienced, but a quick way for her to make a $90.00 tip!! They care nothing about customer service - they treat you like you are just a dollar bill!! This experience pretty much ruined the entire evening.. Bad reviews make it much further than good ones!! I will be sure to spread the word!

You know when you leave a place you've visited and there are those 1 or 2 "postcards" of memories you keep flipping back to? Salute will be one of your postcards. You'll keep picturing the casual tables by the sand, the brightly colored walls, the view of turquoise water, volleyball players, happy dogs walking by with their humans, kids with buckets, that steady lull being by the water creates...and that antipasti plate next to a cold bottle of pinot grigio. You will be able to picture it. You will be able to taste it (those clams...that grouper piping its warm curry smell out of the parchment...the pink shrimp tossed in linguine) and your heart will ache to be back. Hurry up and go there to take the snapshot you'll treasure.
