Krewe of Arfeous Dog Parade
Destin, FL -The King or Queen is selected by a secret committee and announced only weeks before the parade, and is always a rescued/adopted dog. Much like royalty, once selected, his or her Majesty begins a whirlwind of costume fittings, grooming, parties, media interviews, photo shoots, etc.
Every year, the Krewe of Arfeous donates a portion of the proceeds from registration fees, merchandise sales, etc. to worthy animal welfare groups. These groups must be non-profit organizations actively involved in animal welfare. Proceeds from previous years benefited C.A.R.E.
There will always be a VIP Viewing Stand, where the King & Queen are cheered and toasted by Baytowne officials and other important humans. Viewing Stand occupancy is restricted because of space limitations. Admittance is by invitation only.
Yappie Hour and the awards ceremony is held immediately following the parade with prizes being awarded for different categories.
Krewe of Arfeous' sole purpose is providing an entertaining parade for the human & canine citizens of the Sandestin area, and at the same time promoting adoption/rescue of homeless animals.
Arfeous means...............................woof, bark, howl.
