Key West Poker Run...Harley Style!
Key West, FL -More than 10,000 motorcycles and riders from throughout the United States are expected to traverse the scenic Overseas Highway from mainland Florida to Key West, during the annual Key West Poker Run.

The event began in 1972 with 46 riders and has grown into a major fundraiser for South Florida charities. Phil Peterson of Harley-Davidson of Miami and the Key West Sunrise Rotary Club of the Conch Republic organize the ride, which splits proceeds between the Diabetes Research Institute and Sunrise Rotary's local charities and scholarships.
Biker registration for the event takes place at both of Peterson's Harley-Davidson Miami locations (17631 S. Dixie Highway and 19400 NW 2nd Ave.). Registration also is available on-line at www.harleymiami.com.
Upon registering and making a donation, each participating biker receives a poker sheet. Additional "poker hands" can be purchased, with no limit on the number of hands a person may play. Drivers of cars and trucks also can purchase poker hands and participate in the run from Miami to Key West.
Starting on Friday, September 19, participants head down the Overseas Highway (U.S. Highway 1) to Key West, stopping at five designated points along the way to draw cards. Sunrise Rotary members welcome bikers at the final stop, Key West's Conch Republic Seafood Co. at 631 Greene St.
If you go on the poker run there are fives stops where you draw your hands and if you don’t want to make the stops you can buy hands for $10. The person with best hand gets to choose between a new Sportster or $5,000. There area number of Tiki hut style bars for you to check out, a custom bike show in front of Sloppy Joe’s, bikini bike wash, a few contests, limited number of vendors, and lots of hot Florida women.
