Marathon Super Boat Grand Prix
On May 16-18, 2008 Super Boat racing comes to the Florida Keys. With the roar of hundreds of horsepower flying by, there's plenty of room on shore to watch these speeding boats fly across the Atlantic Ocean. Designed with spectators in mind, the boats come within 50 yards of the shore. One of the summer event highlights, thousands of people invade Key West for this competition. Over 35 boats compete on Sunday in 10 classes at speeds up to 135 mph.

About Super Boat International:
Super Boat International Productions, Inc. (SBIP) is the sanctioning body of the International Super Boat Racing Series. Founded by John Carbonell, a veteran racer and promoter, SBIP organizes offshore powerboat racing events throughout the world.
The success of Super Boat International Productions, Inc. can be attributed to Mr. Carbonell’s 31 years of experience in the sport of offshore powerboat racing. A Key West native, he grew up with a passion for the ocean. In the mid-seventies he became involved in the organizational aspects as a racing Commissioner with the American power Boat Association (APBA) and the Offshore Racing Commission (ORC). In 1989, when a group of racers led by Don Johnson and Al Copeland broke away from the APBA and started the Offshore Professional Tour (OPT), he became their Executive Director. Soon after, he became President of his newly formed Super Boat Racing (SBR). In 1996 he was organizing races in Argentina and the Bahamas, as a result the company name was officially changed to Super Boat International Productions (SBIP). Since then he has organized races in San Diego, Long Beach, San Francisco, New Orleans, Detroit, Chicago, New York, Miami, Key West, Deerfield Beach, Marathon, Alabama, Nassau (Bahamas) and Mar del Plata , (Argentina), Ft. Myers, Sarasota, Washington, NC, Ft. Lauderdale, , Dania Beach, Panama City Beach, Hollywood Beach, and Morehead City NC.
