Key West Laws and Regulations
General Laws:
- Seat belts must be worn at all times in a moving vehicle.
- Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is illegal,
take a cab.
- Vehicle Headlights must be on if you are operating your windshield
wipers due to rain or poor road conditions.
- All children under the age of six years old must be restrained
at all times in a moving vehicle by means appropriate for the
child and seating location according to the National Highway Traffic
Administration.
- Right turns can be made on a red light throughout the state,
except where a sign says "No Right on Red." Remember, you must
signal before turning and give way to traffic already in the intersection.
- No scooters are allowed on the sidewalk.
- A bicycle is a vehicle subject to the same laws as a car.
Alcohol Consumption
- It is unlawful for any person under the
age of 21 to buy, possess or consume alcoholic beverages.
- If person is 21, this person must have
his/her I.D. in their possession.
- Open Containers are not allowed in public.
Littering
- Littering is illegal. All glass containers are prohibited on the beach.
Beaches
- Key West beaches are closed at night.

- Don't leave windows and doors unlocked.
- Do not leave wallet, cameras or other personal belongings laying around.
