Memorial Day Weekend on Panama City Beach is the traditional opening of the summer season, and is the perfect opportunity to explore this vacation paradise. And, there's even a music and barbecue festival to keep your toes tapping and your belly full!
Most of the major attractions, restaurants and beach clubs are now open, and are swinging into high gear in an effort to entice visitors to the World's Most Beautiful Beaches. Sure, the crowds heading towards the Beach can sometimes make for slow moving traffic, but it really doesn't take long before you're on the beach and ready for fun.
Once on the beach, there are a nearly inexhaustible number of options for visitors... for instance, behind just about every hotel, condo, restaurant and beach bar are vendors offering jet ski rides and parasailing trips.
These are great for hardy souls searching for fun on- and above- the water. Renting a jet ski is a quick and easy way to see Panama City Beach from a new angle, while enjoying the sensation of motorcycling on water!
Parasailing trips are a unique way to get a stunning vantage from which to see the beauty of both the Beach and the sea-life in the Gulf of Mexico.
Once up in the air, a strange quiet calmness descends over the intrepid parasailor as you drift effortlessly over the aquamarine waters of the Gulf. From your 'seat' above the Gulf, you watch the water's changing face as you travel across the sandbars and out over blue water... then the turn back to the Beach, and a stunning panorama opens before you. As far as you can see, the Beach is covered by swimmers, sunbathers, families, and a range of frantic activity.
Don't put off your first trip of the year to Panama City Beach- head down Memorial Day Weekend and throw yourself into the non-stop fun and excitement this coastal community offers!

Girls fastpitch softball returns to Panama City Beach's Frank Brown Park with the USFA World Series... this can't-miss series will be a hit! The World series attracts teams from all over the country due to the competition and great coastal atmosphere. After all, Panama city is home to the world's most beautiful beaches!
The United States Fastpitch Association (USFA) is the sanctioning authority of the World Series, and one of the driving forces bringing girls fastpitch tournaments to Panama City Beach over the past several years.
The format of the USFA World Series is 5 game format, 3 pool followed by double elimination. The double elimination part of the tounament is seeded based on a blind draw.
The World Series will begin with Opening Ceremonies at Frank Brown Park, with a gift exchange at the first game. TEAM and INDIVIDUAL trophies for 1st through 4th place will be awarded.
The USFA World Series has been highly successful in bringing in first-class teams. Part of that is the quality of the tournament's organizers, part the ability of Panama City Beach to handle the tournaments, and part the quality of Frank Brown Park.
That's not surprising, given that the Park boasts nine separate fields. And as part of the continuing expansion of the park, up to 10 more fields and an indoor swimming pool are envisioned.

Slip into your Shagging Shoes and dance your way to Panama City Beach October 02-07, 2012, 'cause there's a Shag-A-Rama happening that will leave you breathless!
Over the past few years, the Shag-A-Rama parties have averaged over 400 attendees from all over the United States.
What is "Shag" you ask? It's a phenomenal dance craze that started in Myrtle Beach in the 40 and 50's. Local teens invented the dance step that is most suited to Rhythm & Blues music. But "Shag" is much more than a style of swing dancing, it is a way of life for people from Virginia Beach to Florida! Some may even refer to it as a "religion." Come find out why!
Shag is a 6-count, basic pattern dance with East Coast Swing. There is a rearrangement of the footwork that makes it look and feel unique. All the action occurs below the waist, though instructors tend to teach a very standard basic pattern.
True seasoned "Shaggers" take pride in adopting their own versions of the dance, each being distinctive and smooth. Using the balls of their feet and small steps, "Shaggers" manage to perform this very "cool" style of dance to individual perfection!
