Myrtle Beach Bike Week
Myrtle Beach, SC -Myrtle Beach has something for just about everyone... Can-Am Days for Canadians and families in general, Sun Fun Festival for EVERYONE, theaters and attractions and golf courses and shopping - oh yeah, and the beach!

So it shouldn't be too surprising that this Southern vacation Mecca also welcomes an astonishing 200,000 plus motorcyclists into town for a nine day extravaganza known as Myrtle Beach Bike Week! The city, traditionally, welcomes the bikers with open arms. After all, 200,000 visitors arriving all at once has a significant impact on the local economy.
This is the 62nd Annual Spring Bike Rally, or Bike Week, and the organizers have a full schedule of events lined up for riders. A huge annual swap meet, where you can find that rare part you've been looking for, is the centerpiece of events in Murrells Inlet, where many of Bike Week's activities will take place.
Sonny Productions Motorcycle Expo at Murrells Inlet is the largest free admission swap meet during Bike Week, and has over 20 acres of free, paved parking... which is a good thing, given that much of the parking in the area is on sand or the side of the road - often the same thing!
Vendors will display their wares on 5 acres of grass, and will include makers and sellers of leather goods, t-shirts, parts, seats and seat covers, tires, and other customizers. If you're looking for anything for your bike, or something to outfit you or your passenger, Sonny Productions Motorcycle Expo at Murrells Inlet will likely have it.
The location for the Expo is within walking distance of some of the area's finest - and most famous - restaurants. There's no need to grab fast food when you're in Myrtle Beach... there's always a steakhouse, seafood place, or fine Italian restaurant just around the corner!
Inlet Square Mall is close enough to walk to from the Expo as well.
What would a Bike Week be without Poker Runs? Well, not a biker event, that's for sure. So Carolina Motorcycle Tours, Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon and others are sponsoring Poker Runs from the Motorcycle Expo site.
First up is the Carolina Motorcycle Tours Run on Saturday, May 11th, followed by the Street Eagle Motorcycle Rentals Poker Run on Sunday, then another on Monday that's sponsored by Medieval Times of Myrtle Beach.
Tuesday, the 14th of May, the Poker Run is put on by Indian Motorcycles of Myrtle Beach, Wednesday's is another by Medieval Times, and the final Poker Run on Thursday will be hosted by Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon.
Even without the organized Poker Runs there're always bikes riding "The Loop." Running north and south through Myrtle Beach are two main roads, Highway 17 and the Highway 17 Bypass. At the north end of the Grand Strand the roads connect near Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede showhouse, and on the south end at Inlet Square Mall, near the Motorcycle Expo.
It's along this Loop that you'll see most riders... it's definitely the place to see and be seen. Just keep in mind that Bike Week has a good reputation with the locals, and much of that has to do with the behavior riders display on the Loop.
Most of Bike Week's events take place at the south end of the Grand Strand, so expect to see the crowds and traffic pick up as your near that part of town.
Also, if you're coming to Bike Week from the west, know what part of town you'll be staying at before you arrive. Then, if you're staying in the north part of Myrtle Beach, take Highway 9 into town; if you're heading for the center of town from Conway you'll use Highway 501, and if you're gunning straight for the action in the south, follow Highway 544 from Conway to Surfside, just to the south of Myrtle Beach.
Bike Week is a Myrtle Beach tradition that continues to grow with every passing year... come on down and be a part of it!
