The concept and format of the tournament has changed very little since its origin in 1984. Within each Division, participants are assigned to closely-matched-handicap flights of approximately 100 players each, and each flight is assigned to play four appropriately-suited courses with flight make-up remaining constant throughout the four days of regulation play. Foursomes, however, change daily, so there is a fair chance that the dozen players who make up your foursomes can include a gaucho from Guatemala, and electrician from Ecuador, a program designer from Panama, and a school chum from your hometown you've not seen in a dozen years. Then, on the 5th day, all flight winners and ties meet in head-to-head competition for the title.
But there's so much more to this unique event...food and drink, seminars... exhibits at the Convention Center and at night, it's one big party. You'll be trading in those golfin' shoes for your best dancin' shoes as everyone boogies the night away to live music at the 19th Hole. The tournament boasts plenty of cash prizes... as in real "moolah," but it doesn't stop there. Clever play often reaps its own rewards but the top ten in each flight will receive gifts of fine merchandise...closest-to-the pin, long drive, and hole-in-one skills will earn rewards,too, but "token gifts" such as exotic trips, custom clubs, and a brand new luxury car may be awarded simply because your name's drawn from a bowl!
