Myrtle Beach Handicapped Accessibility
In order to better serve their handicapped population, the City of Myrtle Beach has made a special effort over the past few years to provide beach access for handicapped persons.

Now, with the help of the Myrtle Beach Pilot Club, the City of Myrtle Beach, other civic organizations and private individuals, specially designed beach-going wheelchairs have been purchased and are located at key lifeguard stations along the beachfront. Lifeguards are in charge of the use of the wheelchairs.
These wheelchairs can be used by handicapped persons in the general areas where they are located. There is no cost associated with use of these wheelchairs. You may use them for a period of up to one hour, then return them; if no one else is waiting, you may take it out again for another hour.
The wheelchairs are very sturdy and have large balloon tires which make them easy to push through the beautiful sand on our beaches. They come equipped with an umbrella to avoid sunburns.
The wheelchairs can only be used in the City of Myrtle Beach and at the locations that are listed below:
- 77th Ave. N
- 72nd Ave. N
- 54th Ave. N
- 24th Ave. N
- 5th Ave. N
