New Orleans Exchange Alley Live Web Cam

Just as the city of New Orleans is a fascinating reflection of the history of the entire nation, this narrow walkway mirrors the history of the French Quarter and the entire city of New Orleans. Today it is called Exchange Alley and it is one of only two pedestrian malls in the French Quarter. It was created as a pedestrian walkway over 185 years ago. Called Place de Exchange by the Creoles and Exchange Passage by the early Americans, it was New Orleans’ most important street of commerce, despite the fact that neither horses, carriages, nor vehicles of any kind have ever been allowed.
