Spring is in Full Swing - FORE!
By Rachel C Vella, General Manager NOTV
New Orleans, LA -Well, dear sports fans...New Orleans is the one stop place to be for all professional sports. In the month of March, Louisiana’s own TCP Golf Course will be hosting the 50th Annual Fore! Kids Zurich Golf Classic. Since 1958, this six-day professional golf tournament has raised over 16 million dollars for non-profit organizations; ranging from Katrina victims - to funding children’s service organizations - to purchasing books for schools. This fantastic organization is non-stop year round, raising money and giving money to worthy causes all over Louisiana - helping over 200,000 kids a year! The Fore! Kids Foundation mission is committed to improve the lives of children, promote education and bring confidence to help them pursue their dreams.

Now that you know this is a great organization, let’s talk about the other reason to go to the Zurich Classic - the golfers of course! It is a great opportunity to watch first hand your favorite professional golfers, for as little as $25 a day, you can get a front row seat to the action. From March 24 through the 30, anyone can quietly watch the best golfers in the world compete - last year the purse was $6.1 million. The Zurich Classic is viewed in over 100 countries worldwide. Past winners include: Nick Watney, Vijay Singh, Chip Beck, Lee Trevino and Jack Nicklaus. This year, Jim Furyk, the #4 ranked player in the world will be playing. One never knows who else will show up for the tournament until the day it begins...and you can be assured that plenty of celebrities will in the audience.

Great golf is not the only reason to go, but it is a true New Orleans experience! I would suggest splurging on this tournament - go for one of the ticket packages, either the Champions Club or the Cypress Suites it will give you an experience you will never forget. The food offered in these areas is some of the best our city has to offer… from Drago’s to Ruth Chris Steakhouse, you will get all of the finest food in one place. And the entertainment (other than the golfing) is also top notch, Better Than Ezra, Hootie and Blowfish, Irma Thomas, Marva Wright, Trombone Shorty and Ivan Neville are just a few of the acts that will be playing at this famous tournament.
My last tip for you, dear reader, is you must buy a package that includes parking or buy the parking space with a day pass. This is not the thing you want to skimp on. Parking is a premium, and I would hate to hear you had to walk three miles to get to the tournament! Trust me, suck it up and pay for the parking ahead of time, you can thank me later! The best-priced parking will be at The Alario Center. They have doubled the amount of buses taking people back and forth; it is less than a five-minute ride.
So have I convinced you to come spend your spring break partying at the Zurich Classic while helping the children of Louisiana? Fore!
