Haunted New Orleans

New Orleans, LA -

New Orleans is famous for the wild times at Mardi Gras, but not everyone knows that New Orleans throws the howlingest Halloween celebration in the country! Halloween is on Thursday this year, but there's plenty going on before and after the 31st... the ghastly goings-on promise to be thrilling enough to wake the dead!

Haunted New Orleans

Wandering Bourbon Street and the French Quarter the night of Halloween is an experience you won't soon forget... the costumes, the partying and the huge crowds guarantee a good time.

Halloween is on Thursday this year, but there's plenty going on before and after the 31st...the ghastly goings-on promise to be thrilling enough to wake the dead!

On the corner of Bourbon and Conti you might stumble upon a gaggle of Elvi out for a stroll... just down the block you could run into howling, growling werewolves... and of course, there's generally just a bit too much skin exposed in many a costume!

Bourbon Street during Halloween week probably isn't the best place to take the kids, so Audubon Zoo comes to the rescue with Boo at the Zoo.

This spooktacular event is open October 25th, 26th, and 31st, from 5 - 9pm. Boo at the Zoo is a harmlessly scary good time for kids of all ages, with games, Sheriff Foti's Haunted House, and a ghost train.

The Shops at Canal Place is hosting a benefit for the Children's Hospital called "Operation Pumpkin" on October 19 from 10am to 3pm. Actual doctors will be "operating" on pumpkins, turning them into ghastly shapes. Live music, face painting and hands-on craft workshops will make this a favorite with the youngsters!

You can get really spooky at VoodooFest in Armstrong Park on October 31st. This is a music festival and celebration of New Orleans' spiritual heritage - and an authentic Voodoo ceremony.

The main stage music is free to all, while the Opening and Closing ceremonies will feature rituals to "the Ancestors" by New Orleans Voodoo Priest/Houngan Elmer T. Glover, Vodou Priestess Luisah Teish & Haitian Priestess Mama Lola...

In other words, VoodooFest is a can't-miss, uniquely New Orleans Halloween party. Musical acts include Bamboula 2000, Coco Robicheaux and Sunpie.

If you're not easily offended, and have a grisly sense of the macabre, you should definitely head across the river to Jefferson for the House of Shock. This is one haunted house that will actually scare you!

November 2nd the Voodoo Music Experience is keeping "spirits" alive with three giant main stages playing host to some of the biggest names in music - The Crystal Method, Garbage, Macy Gray, No Doubt and 311 are featured artists this year.

Join the estimated 70,000 fans who will converge on New Orleans for this unbelievable musical festival... it's set in two huge fields and will host dozens and dozens of cool vendors.

We're talking Voodoo rituals, DJ's, and Voodoo After Dark, when the bands continue playing in clubs around town. The Voodoo Music Experience will be held in City Park, northwest of the French Quarter.

For a creepy, exciting, rocking Halloween, New Orleans can't be beat! End of Article
