By traveling in April, skiers and snowboarders can save 30 percent or more on their vacations, according to Ski.com. For example, the Web site offers a four-night package at Breckenridge that includes lodging, three-day lift tickets and a car rental for $1,240 a person based on two people sharing a room in mid-March. That same package drops to $874 a person the first week in April.
If you must travel in March, there are some tips: Avoid the week before Easter (March 15 to 22) if possible. That’s when most college students and families with children are expected to take their spring-break vacations. To find out when colleges let out, check out TripSmarter.Com, which specializes in trips to the Southeast, including spring-break hot spots like Panama City Beach, Fla. and Pensacola, Fla., and offers a list of 2008 college-break dates on its Web site.
