In 2007 the PCB City Council decided to designate an area of the beach for dogs and their owners where they could run in the surf, play fetch in the sand and enjoy the beautiful beach together. It's a great place for dog lovers to mingle and for the dogs to make some new friends too! Here's a tip: get there early! This part of the beach can get very crowded. Also, there is a hose up on the boardwalk, but bring a bottle of water and a bowl for your furry friend... we all know how hot the beach can get!
After a long day at the Dog Beach, if you start to get hungry or just want to cool off it's only a short stroll across the road to Pier Park. This mall features lots of great shopping and dining and most of the restaurants with outdoor seating are dog-friendly. Just check with the establishment when you arrive. There are also conveniently located doggy water fountains and doggy sanitation bags located throughout the complex.
Frank Brown Park
FBP offers 1.5 miles of dog-friendly trails including a pond near the rear of the park with a paved trail, picnic tables and a fenced in dog playground. It's the perfect place to take your dog for a long walk or a puppy play date! Lots of dog owners congregate here because it is the only leash-off designated park for pups!
St. Andrew Bay Ferry Company
For a really fun day with Fido, pack your cooler with your favorite snacks and beverages for a ride over to Shell Island. This ferry is the only year-round pet-friendly island cruise in PCB. On the ride over to Shell Island you can take in the beautiful view and if you're lucky, maybe even see some dolphins! Shell Island is where you will find all the locals hanging out and there are no state park restrictions. The water is gorgeous and there's always a lot for you and your furry companion to explore!
So next time you plan a 'Family Vacation," make sure you include the WHOLE family and bring you're your pooch along to a getaway in Panama City Beach!
