Scottish Festival And Highland Games
Panama City Beach, FL -From Scotland's highlands and lowlands, it's pipes & drums, song & dance, fiddles, harp & guitar...and bringing it all together is the Panama City Highland Games. You'll enjoy fine performers, delicious Scottish food, highland athletics, Scottish dancers, clan tents, and historical exhibits as the spirit of the highlands comes to town!

The Highland Games and Scottish Festival will be filled with the skirl of bagpipes, exciting competitions, and a joyous celebration of Scottish and Celtic heritage and culture. Feel the blood race as the Massed Bagpipe Bands take the field playing "Scotland the Brave". Sing along with Celtic musicians in the Tartan Tea Room. Shop at the Exhibitor Tents for Scottish and Celtic items you won't see elsewhere, such as highland attire and historical weapons. Enjoy a scone, a cucumber sandwich or a Scottish egg. Make your way to the Heavy Athletics field and marvel as kilted Scots compete at traditional events such as tossing the 19 foot caber.
In light of the many Scots who were early settlers on the Emerald Coast, Panama City is a fitting site for a highland gathering. You might meet a distant relative at the Clan Tents! The Scottish festivities don't end as the sun sets and the crowds leave the grounds of Grace Presbyterian Church. The popular Ceilidh (kay - lee) awaits you in the evening and the celebration continues! Celtic musicians and performers will continue the excitement well into the night. It's all here at the Panama City Highland Games and Scottish Festival.
The following day the Kirkin' of the Tartan , a special Sunday service, is held in the church. So grab your kilt, collar up your sheepdog, and gather your laddies... here's one festival you will not want to miss!
The Highland Games
Similiar to the modern-day shot put, this manly contest requires contestants to heave a heavy stone, for distance.
The "telephone pole toss" to most of us flat-landers, to the Gaelic this traditional game is as much about accuracy as it is strength...
A three-part contest. Competitors throw a 28lb. weight and a 56 pounder for distance, and the 56lb. for height, then toss 'em over their opponents heads.
Good, clean fun. Contestants take three throws with a 22lb. hammer, for distance.
The lightweight game of the bunch. A measley 16lb. bag of hay is tossed with a three-tined pitchfork. Think threshing, pole-vaulting, and salad tossing.
