St. Andrews Mardi Gras
Just across the bridge in Panama City is the St. Andrews neighborhood. One of the first parts of Bay County to be settled, St. Andrews has recently undergone a grass-roots- inspired resurrection.

An important aspect of this rejuvenation has been the St. Andrews Mardi Gras celebration. Begun in 1997 with a meager turnout, the event has become one of the most eagerly awaited in the greater Panama City area, with an estimated crowd for the parade in 2000 of 35,000 plus.
Mardi Gras in St. Andrews isn't quite the all-out drinking festival that New Orleans' celebration represents. The St. Andrews community enjoys a party - they have several street festivals throughout the year - but they also enjoy quiet nights.
These are great for hardy souls searching for fun on- and above- the water. Renting a jet ski is a quick and easy way to see Panama City Beach from a new angle, while enjoying the sensation of motorcycling on water!
So the party is confined to a several square block radius, and it ends at 10 p.m. This doesn't dampen enthusiasm though, just keeps in within certain boundaries.
If you're looking for a Mardi Gras celebration that the whole family can enjoy, then plan your vacation for the first week of February and spend it in Historic St. Andrews
This year we will have a two day Festival in the Oak's by the Bay Park, with food/drink vendors, kid rides, live music and great bands performing both days and nights. This is made possible by The Downtown Improvement Board, The Krewe of St. Andrews and local sponsors.
