There is nothing more magical than a lighted boat parade, and the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to come out and enjoy the Fort Walton Beach Christmas Boat Parade, that is held in conjunction with the City of Fort Walton Beach Tree Lighting and Festival of Trees at the Landing in Fort Walton Beach.
Boaters are encouraged to register their vessels with the Fort Walton Beach Chamber and there is no entry fee. All entrants are required to register their vessels with the FWB Chamber by 5 pm on Monday, December 2. The registration form is available at the Chamber’s web site at fwbchamber.com. In addition, the skippers of all registered vessels must attend a mandatory Skippers’ Meeting at the Chamber offices (34 Miracle Strip Parkway, SE, Fort Walton Beach) on Wednesday, December 4, at 5:30 pm. Light refreshments will be provided, and skippers will learn the logistical details of assembly and cruising by the judges’ stand – and how to claim the Helen Back certificate.
Helen Back on beautiful Okaloosa Island will give each participating decorated boat a $50 gift certificate and Helen Back will be throwing a gala after party following the parade. All boats are welcome, from the smallest powered skiff to large party boats and entrants will compete for a variety of prizes in three categories: Best Decorated, Most Christmas Spirit, and Judges’ Choice.
This event is sponsored by Helen Back, the City of Fort Walton Beach, the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce, and the Fort Walton Sail and Power Squadron. It is but one part of the Christmas festivities at The Landing, when the City of Fort Walton Beach will sponsor the Christmas Tree Lighting with music, a visit from Santa, and a Festival of Trees to benefit local non-profits.
The festivities begin at 4pm and the Boat Parade at approximately 5:30pm. So come on out, get in the festive spirit and enjoy the afternoon festivities and Boat parade.
