I have to say "ditto" to Toni's suggestions, Emerald.
There's one other place that you may like too, it's called The International House Hotel. Located downtown, just one block from Canal Street in a renovated 19th century building.
The vibe is cool and the bar in the lobby (LOA) is one of the best places in town to see and be seen.
