My family and I are keeping everyone in Destin and the surrounding area in our thoughts and prayers. For the most part, the aftermath news sounds as if there has been minimal damage and that things will be back to normal soon.

However, I've been reading that Holiday Isle is closed and impassable and that the road has washed out. I heard that even residents there have been told that they cannot come back to inspect their homes until later this week. My family and I have reservations to stay at Jetty East on Holiday Isle the week of Aug. 1. Should we be making alternate plans? I've tried calling but not surprisingly, there is no answer.

Can anybody from Destin give us an accurate picture and advice?
