I am so sorry, and I completely understand. Our much beloved elderly dog passed away last year, and we went through some similar experiences, putting off vacations and changing our plans. Pepper developed Cushings Disease late in life, so the knowledge that boarding him would make him sicker made it a non-issue, we put his needs above our own. Our thought was "we can always take vacation, the time he's with us is short".
