A very touching story and i fully understand your feelings on this. I had this same problem a couple years ago. I didnt want to leave my dog as she was 15 yrs old and blind at that point. I called around and was able to find an owner at Horizon South that was VERY understanding. I took her with us and she was passed away a month later. You still may be able to find someone willing to take a chance. You may have to pay a pet deposit, but it would be cheaper than boarding.
