Fishing Trip

We went out for a full day of fishing and we had a great time. We left the St. Andrews Marina just after 6am, and our boat captain put us on some pretty awsome Snapper and Grouper. In fact it was so great that our VP of Engineering (Mike Hartzog) got a big snapper on his line and almost let it go back because it was whipping him...just kidding Mike.

Anyway, my comment is that we caught just below our limit of snapper in State water and went out further into National waters and as soon as we got there, we were met by an Marine Officer who gave our captain a citation due to our CURRENTLY being in Federal waters even though we caught the fish legally in State waters. Now while I know he could have no way of knowing if we were telling the truth, I do feel that this is a pretty bad law. How does this effect and affect fishing in local areas? How long will it take for our State and local waters to be fished out? If the limits are higher locally than they are nationally, how in the world does this make any sense at all?

I'm just happy we had such a great day of fishing in spite of the way our day ended. Maybe we should change the law before we go out again, because I know we are going to catch more the next time.
