I haven't eaten at any of the "Good" establishments that you list here, so I can't comment. However, I have eaten at Capt. Anderson's several times & Scampy's once. Our meals at Capt. Anderson's have always been excellent (I usually get the grilled scamp & it's wonderful) My husband tries different things & he's never complained. We've never ordered anything deep-fried, so I don't know about that comment you made. Also, we've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table, but maybe that depends on when & what time you go.
I've only been to Scampy's once & I got the grilled mahi-mahi to go as a lunch special & it was good, too. Not oily or greasy & the sides were cooked just right & not overdone. Since I got my food to go, I can't comment on the wait staff except that the fellow who took my to go order was pleasant & I had didn't have to wait long.
Sorry that you a bad experience & hopefully you will give them another chance.
