Well we've been officially declared a disaster area. Our house is fine, we are blessed with heat, water and power, but most of my friends and coworkers are not so lucky. One friend has been without power since Monday, and now carries a chainsaw and generator around in his truck everywhere he goes- and he lives less than 2 miles from the WalMart general office, not out in the country.
I was riding with someone yesterday and a huge chunk of ice fell from a power line/power pole onto the hood of the car, less than a foot from our heads. Scared the pee out of us, and perforated the hood all the way across. Power lines are down everywhere, trees going through roofs, and a large gas station around the corner from my house had the overhang/awning covering thing come crashing down on cars and
people pumping. I love the mangers optimism in this story- the pumps are sideways and they are NOT open.
