Downtown Atlanta will host the Titan Games, the road to Athens for America’s elite boxers, fencers, shot-putters, wrestlers, weightlifters and judo and taekwondo athletes. The event, sponsored by Home Depot, will come to Philips Arena June 18-20.
Titan Games in Atlanta
180 athletes, representing 12 counties, will compete in seven sports. The sports festival will feature simultaneous action in four “battle zones” on the floor of Philips Arena. Competition will will be "U.S. versus the world" format. Total prize money is $100,000.
Beyond Philips Arena, Centennial Olympic Park will serve as a backdrop and come alive with music, entertainment, Olympic-themed attractions and additional competition arenas. On its way to Athens, the Olympic Torch will make an appearance in a city-wide Olympic celebration in the park the evening of June 18. The event will also feature two shows by the band Cowboy Mouth.
