Cool Martinis & IMAX®

I like the sound of this... the IMAX theater at Fernbank has martini mixers every Friday evening... until November 23. Show up at 6:30pm, sample the martini of the month, mix a little, then catch a breath-taking IMAX movie at 7pm, 8pm, 9pm or, yep, 10pm.

Not a bad way to spend a Friday night! And, tell 'em TripSmarter.Com sent you!

Darn! We were just through Atlanta and if we knew we sure would have stopped. The first time we went to an imax theater we thought it would be all hype. It turned out to be an extremely swell presentation though. The screen is bigger than any we ever had seen!

Is this Fernbank imax hard to find?

Too bad you missed it, I hear it's a great time. As for finding Fernbank, it's not too difficult. It's downtown, and whether you're coming in from the north or the south you'll want to take exit 248C Freedom Parkway, then Ponce de Leon Avenue, then to Clifton Road.

Fernbank's web site has excellent directions, so I'll let them give the exact directions -

The IMAX theater is part of the Fernbank complex.

Thanks, when we are next in Atlanta we'll stop by for sure. This is off topic but I have a question. Was the Battle of Peachtree Creek actually IN Atlanta? There are so many Peachtree references that I can't be sure. Thanks for the directions.

It sure was... in fact, it was during the battle that the first Union shell was fired on Atlanta. The historic marker of the battle is located on Palisades Road near Peachtree Road.

The battle was fought at what is now the junction of I-75 and I-85. You can visit the Peachtree Creek battlefield by taking I-75 to exit 252A, U.S. 41 and heading north (right if you were on North I-75, left if you were on South I-75). Turn right .1 mile north of I-75 on Echota Drive. Turn left on Walthall Road at the end of Echota Drive.

The area around Collier Road is where the main action took place. This area was rural at the time of the battle, which is hard to remember with the growth Atlanta's undergone.

Your welcome on the directions!
