There's a picture in the Atlanta-Journal Constitution that sums it all up - three kids sledding down a hill in Piedmont Park with the skyline of Atlanta rising behind them... take a look -

Talking House of Blues

I've heard that House of blues might open a place in Atlanta! It's about time. I don't know why they've dissed on Atlanta all this time. It's the home of so much music, especially southern blues and gospel. Anybody else heard this?

Question

I wonder if Atlanta isn't too big for House of Blues? It seems to do exceptionally well in the cities it's in, but they're all smaller than Atlanta. Even New Orleans is a special case, since the French Quarter is a semi-seperate enclave. I wish them well, though! My family and I have always enjoyed HOB.

doesn't HOB have a presence in Atlanta?--in conjunctin with the Tabernacle? Not a full on HOB with restaurant, but some affiliation with the shows at the Tabernacle? I believe this is true, but someone else could clarify? maybe an Atlantan? maybe an HOB rep?

House of Blues

The House of Blues opened a temporary location during the '96 Olympics at the old "Baptist Tabernacle" building. They left soon after the Olympics. The Baptist Tabernacle building is now used as a venue for some concerts but it is not a "House of Blues".

Sorry for the bad news.

Alan.

Lightbulb

The House of Blues website lists the HiFi Buys Amphitheatre in Atlanta as a HOB venue and offers tickets and sponsorships. It looks to be more of a HOB without the House... but I do remember hearing something about HOB being in discussions on opening an Atlanta location.

It'd be a good mix. Atlanta is a music-oriented city, and HOB puts on excellent concerts in a cool setting.
