Ok, this might only interest a few old Grunts like me, but the Army is going to have a Stryker on display in Centennial Park this Thursday.

What's a Stryker? "This is the Cadillac of armored vehicles," Victor Sands, head of the Stryker program, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

It's the Army's newest armored fighting vehicle, and it's a radical new departure from older models. For one thing, it's got wheels instead of tracks. This isn't to be confused with a tank, it's not meant to go up against those 70 ton monsters.

(The Stryker is named for two different Medal of Honor winners by that name.)

There's always something going on at Centennial Park. They have turned that into something. I did not think it was a good idea at first. Now it looks like it may work out. The more they have odd things like this at the Park the more people will just go on a whim and see what's out there.

I wouldn't want to be on the recieving end of that thing. It looks pretty menacing.

I was watching 'Black Hawk Down' the other night and noticed that wheeled armored vehicles played a pretty big roll, as far as transporting troops, carrying the wounded, and providing cover fire for ground units.

Can someone take a picture of the Stryker in Atlanta and post it online? I'd like to take a closer look at it.
