I'd appreciate any info on a truly original, outstanding restaurant in downtown Atlanta. We're wanting to dine in style, multiple courses, fine wine, and excellent service.
Thank you in advance for any responses. |

For original, outstanding, and excellent service, try Mumbo Jumbo. It's altogether different! What it really sounds like you'd enjoy though is the Ritz Carlton on Peachtree. Tres chic. World class wine selection. It's pricey, but you'll feel that you got your money's worth. Hope this helped!

I just tried a relatively new restaurant in Midtown. It's called One Midtown Kitchen. Only a 5 minute cab ride from Downtown... straight down Piedmont, right on Monroe, then right a the first light... write down these directions and GO THERE! Awesome, well-priced, beautiful and delicious... full of locals - for a reason. Try the Goatcheese stuffed Sourdough.

Another great place to eat in Midtown! It's called Gilbert's Mediterranean Cafe, and it is one of those European style neighborhood cafes where the owners are actually THERE every night watching over everything.
Great Paella! Great bar scene. Tiny little jewel box of a place - very very friendly! |

OK, am I the only one posting here???
Lunch yesterday on the patio at Joe's on Juniper. AWESOME... casual, yummy, ice cold Warsteiner on tap, and they let me bring my little dog. Fun crowd. Great service. Great people watching... perfect when the weather is fine! |

You're not alone Toni! I don't always jump in though I'm usually browsing the boards. Thanks for the recommendation on One Midtown Kitchen. It sounds like an interesting place. I'll be in the city next month again, and give it try. Goatcheese stuffed Sourdough??? Ok, why not?!

OK... back again... another excellent choice is Tamarind Thai. Delicate flavors that are not overpowering... just burst in your mouth - sensational.
Truly one of the best Thai restaurants in America, and the decor, the service, the 'attitude' is exceptional. Located right in Midtown. The chef/owner is a beautiful woman who puts a little orchid on your plate as it heads out the door to your table. Her husband, Charlie, is the guy you will probably see at the front of the restaurant. They are beautiful... the place is awesome. Go there. |
