Questions, Questions!

Randy,

I have to thank you for introducing me to Courtyard Wine and Cheese bar! I would have never found it without your help and it is just like our favorite bar in Hermosa Beach, CA so you have done us a big favor in helping us quickly feel at home here in PCB! THANKS! We owe you a glass of their finest!
The bar is so close to home that it has quickly become my favorite.... I just wish that it were walking distance to the house. All that wine, and driving just don't mix. I wish I knew if they needed a bartender.... the girlie bartender always gets pretty tipsy while serving us and it looks so fun (I think that is the attraction to wanting to work there)!

We have also had the pleasure of meeting your friend Jay (spelling?) while eating dinner at Criolla's. He is very nice! I very much enjoyed all the winks he gave me while I was eating dinner... not sure if Tyler enjoyed it though?? I wonder... does all the winking and following out to the car to ask if dinner was o.k. part of the Jay package?? No wonder your favorite bar is anywhere he works.... he sure does give star treatment:) <giggling>

I have some questions...

Is anyone going to the Lobsterfest at Schooners, and if so what is a good day to go??

Also, we are planning on going to New Orleans at the end of next week to visit the Museum of the American Cocktail (among other things) and I was hoping to get some info on some great places to eat and bar hop. It has been 4-5 years since I last visited New Orleans and want to see what's good. Love to get some input??

Thanks!

Kimber,

I know this thread is dead, but it seems the best place to post my question... I'm curious if you've discovered a laid back place or two in the PCB-to-Destin area that has a "boy (or girl!) and his guitar" atmosphere. I'm thinking a little more intimate and a smaller room than a full band performance? Any recommendations would be great, thanks.

No threads are dead threads... at least not until we unsubscribe... and for us die hard PCBers... there is no unsubscribing! J/K!

To answer your question:
I found a cool place to hide out in Destin and listen to some good music... although I am ashamed to say it has been a while since I have been out! The Funky Blues Shack in Destin is quite cool and intimate! Think: House of Blues but smaller with a cute Destin flair. I have only been once but REALLY enjoyed the time and show. Josh Blackburn was playing and he was FANTASTIC. Sad to say he has moved to Colorado... but happy to say I am moving back to Colorado so hopefully I will see him playing somewhere in Denver in the future! I just wish I could take Beach TV/ Tripsmarter with me! Maybe one day they will have something similar in Denver.... and maybe while I am dreaming they will let me host the club scene part of it... Ha, Ha... Randy, look out.... here comes Kimber! J/K. Sorry guys... it's late!

LOL, now that's funny, someone's had a martini too many... :)

I repoened this dormant thread, I was asking Kimber if she's found any small and cozy little guitar bars/open mic places in the PCB or 30A area... Rog and I will be back on business week after next, and I plan on dragging him to a few places....

FYI DaBubba & Jojos has been closed down all Summer and we locals are waiting for it to re-open! I just graduated from Gulf Coast Community College, here in PC, and our little group usually meets at the Rock'it Lanes sports bar Tuesday nights for bar wars and then we meet at Spinnaker either Friday or Saturday night.

since you are between Destin and PC Beach, why not go onto the Sowal.com message boards. That is the hopping board for that area and they are always posting on there about the best hangouts and restaurants. Have to register to post though, if you are not registered already. Sorry PC Beach, the Sowal forum sight is my fave to visit. We do not go 30A direction for anything.

trishben, I found where you were talking about. I have reworded something in the post. I meant sorry PC Beach, the Sowal forum sight is my favorite sight. And I meant we do not go 30A direction for anything. I had forgotten I had replied to this.

Either way, I have met more of the most unique enjoyable entertaining people while eating and drinking my way down 30A...

Rosemary Beach:

Wine and Cheese bar...once Medusa Rouge, the old owner created something that is living on today...an upscale wine bar with a low scale pretense...not dress code, no snottiness...just great wine and lots of it...

Seasise:

Bud and Alleys....ok, its a bit touristy, what isn't out in Seaside, still fun young adult crowd.

Watercolor:

Fish Out of Water...incredible food...amazing martinis...and one of the best Mijitos on the coast

Grayton (my faovrite)

As SWN mentioned can't go wrong with a meal from Criollas...
Follow it with wine and conversation at Boragos (Italian food, very social bar crowd. I have made more good friends at that bar than any bar anywhere in Florida....great people, out to be social and enjoy life.)
and of course....RED BAR...can't go wrong there either. Live Jazz, simple but delicious menu...fun fun fun...lots of locals, lots of tourists...did i mention lots of FUN!

Ok, I have to get back to work now, but feel free to email me randy@tripsmarter.com or post any more questions...I promise quicker repsonse next time....

Because they cover alot of information! On alot of subjects. But I believe I put this on here about a week ago. When I first started viewing this again last week, anyway, people are starting to put more posts on here now, so I am doing more on here. But to answer why I am pushing this board so much, which I am not, and I do not go on 30-A for anything, and that is because there are no things to do like waverunning and beach stores over there unless you go to Destin. More to do in PC Beach as to mine and my husband's likes!
