Destin after Hurricane Ivan pictures

My family has a house right on the beach on Holiday Isle. We drove 14 hours down to Destin two days after Ivan hit the area to assess the damage, and I managed to take about 250 pictures of Holiday Isle, our house, and other images from around Destin. Feel free to access the pictures on my website: http://www.missouri.edu/~lep6f4/
Let me know what you think - Overall the damage, even to the beachfront homes, wasn't terrible.
We ended up with 5 feet of sand throughout the first floor, but other than that, everything looked very good.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the photos and all the other info you've shared... glad to hear damage was managable at your property. I think most of Destin is back to business as usual now...

Re:Destin damage

Looks like you have lots of shoveling ahead! Sorry about the damage to your house.Structural damage citywide isn't nearly as bad as I had imagined. We are due in Destin October 17 and recovery looks to be well on the way.Hope you get things back in shape soon,John

Those are the best photos of the Destin beach area after the hurricane that I've seen. We've stayed at both The Jetty East and The Islander. It appears there's a lot of work to be done on the beach area (sand is over the tennis courts and pool at the Jetty East). I spoke to The Islander manager. She thought they may be back to normal in late December. Good luck with the recovery.

GREAT PICTURES, ONE OF YOUR PICTURES SHOWS MY UNIT AT JETTY EAST. THE ONLY ONE I HAVE SEEN. LOOKS O.K. THE HURRICANE SCREENS LOOK LIKE THEY MADE IT THROUGH THE STORM.
