Mike Bettis from the Weather Channel said he would be going to the beach area in about an hour. He was shooting from Destin Commons and there was hardly any damage at all.

Thanks for keeping us posted- I, too, with another family (8 total) are supposed to leave for Destin this Friday. We are staying at the Sandestin resort. I have not been able to confirm anything as to the damage. I am not sure when to start working on a "plan B" since I have only 5 days. If anyone hears anything about Sandestin, please post. Again, thanks a lot.

Per CNN news-from an American Cross rep-there was damage to Sandestin but he did not specify, heard that about 10 minutes ago. I also have reservations in August for Sandestin. I imagine that flooding would probably be the biggest concern, in my non-expert opinion. But who knows b/c no one has really said. Let's hope for the best.

I own a condo at the Majestic Sun in Destin. If anyone has any damage reports for that area, I would appreciate it. Power off or on? Beach erosion?

They had a shot of the beach across from the Majestic Sun. Didn't see the condo itself. Whales Tail looked to be up and in decent condition from afar. It looks like significant beach erosion, again.

I have tried and tried all morning to access that Northwest Florida daily news site and nothing is coming up. I even tried to type in the web address but all I get is a bland screen. Perhaps their site is just busy or maybe b/c my computer is crap. Either way, does anyone have any add'l info about Sandestin beach damage or any info regarding the resorts, etc.

I've got reservations for Thursday - Sunday this week at the Sandestin Resort. I've been looking for information on its condition. If anyone has any info, please post. Thanks!

I just called the Sandestin number that the Vancouver location is answering their phones. I told the man I had reservations for this coming Saturday. He said that, as far as he knew, Sandestin would be up and running tomorrow. I will take that with a grain of salt, but Sandestin should be answering their own phones tomorrow (supposedly). I also talked to Galye at the Sunquest Cruises in Destin. She is going today to the marina to assess the damage and told me she would give me a call tonight to tell me their status. (they were the only business I could get to answer the phones). I will post anything I find out, but if anyone hears anything specific, please post as well.
